Final bus updates before launch

6th September 2024 by Admin Admin

1. Bus travel will be free on both services from launch until 15th September (Chew Valley Cat from1st September and X91 Chew Valley Sprint from 2nd) We were only given this information yesterday by the Mayoral Combined Authority.

2. We also only discovered somewhat late in the day that the official timetable notices on bus stops could take a while to arrive, so as a temporary measure, we have spent the last couple of days copying and laminating the timetables and are in the process of placing them on bus stop poles or in shelters. The X91 Chew Valley Sprint only stops in 7 places but with the 99 Chew Valley Cat, we have put it on the 18 timetabled stops The-Big-Lemon-WESTlocal-Route-99-Chew-Valley-Cat-1 but also hope to put it on the further 29 request stops , clearly marking them as request stops. This has been a huge endeavour to manage at speed so that they are in place from tomorrow! Our apologies for not going through the proper channels for this but we thought parishioners would be grateful to have this info sooner rather than later!  Once the official signage goes up, they can of course be removed.

3. We were also informed yesterday that there has been a delay in the Mayoral Combined Authority getting timetable leaflets produced for the services. So we now don’t anticipate their delivery in the post until early October. We hope to have some to share on our stall at Harvest Home opposite Chew Valley School on 7th September, if we can negotiate a special print run just for this purpose.

Don’t forget, for anyone wanting to travel on the bus who wants help with personal planning for their journeys our next journey planning session is on Tuesday 3rd September 11.15 at the Bear & Swan Chew Magna. We will also have a stall at Chew Stoke Harvest Home on 7th September (in the Field opposite Chew Valley School) from 12.30 onwards and also on 14th September 2.30-5 at East Harptree Flower & Craft Show (at East Harptree Playing Fields).

Warm wishes

Jackie
