Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking people’s views on its new draft Transport Strategies for the Chew Valley and Somer Valley.
Following previous consultations where residents of these communities told us their opinions on existing transport issues and priorities, the Council has developed these strategies in response.
The resulting Transport Strategies look to recommend improvements or measures to address existing problems and also take into account future growth and options on how to plan for transport provision. The key objectives include:
- Improving the quality of life for local residents
- Improving road safety for users
- Promoting sustainable mobility where possible
- Maintaining and enhancing the local environment
- Addressing the needs of people with mobility impairments
- Improving access to local facilities by walking and cycling.
The Chew Valley strategy covers Norton Malreward, Publow, Stanton Drew, Chew Magna, Chew Stoke, Nempnet Thrubwell, Ubley, Compton Martin, West Harptree, East Harptree, Hinton Blewett, Cameley, Clutton and Stowey Sutton and the surrounding areas.
The Somer Valley strategy covers Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Peasedown St John, Paulton, Timsbury and the surrounding areas.

Drop in public events are also being held as follows:
- 25th October – Somer Valley Transport Strategy – Midsomer Norton Town Hall 3pm to 8pm
- 8th November – Chew Valley Transport Strategy – Chew Valley Secondary School Library 4pm to 8pm
Closing dates for comments is 30 November 2017. Following the consultation, comments received will be considered and the Council’s Cabinet will decide upon each of the strategies
