Thursday 24th October 2024: Avon Wildlife Trust – Chew Valley Group: TANZANIA – Wild Animals & Rural Life.. Talk by Liz & Ian Dagger.
Liz and Ian describe their 6 weeks experience of life in East Tanzania. They lived in a small house near the town of Arusha with Joshua, a Tanzanian gentleman. Whilst there Liz and Ian went on a camping safari to the Serengeti, which is described in the main part of their illustrated talk. But they also volunteered around Joshua’s village, below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the Great Rift Valley, including helping in an orphanage and secondary school. They describe how the Meru people live sustainably but also are affected by climate change.
