Annual Resilience Day 2023 – Saturday 2 September MORNING
PLEASE COME ALONG – FREE homemade cakes/hot drinks
BACKGROUND We have had 2 significant events this year so Resilience Day is a real opportunity to prepare for Autumn and Winter. With Climate change a reality it is even more important that we are fully prepared for any flooding. Having spoken to B&NES and EA following last year’s events, it’s clear that while they are ready to help us, we must be able to protect ourselves in the first instance including road flooding which is a regular occurrence.
We are so fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteer wardens who are now very experienced. 2024 will be the tenth year since the team was formed. We need more warden volunteers to support the existing team to allow them to take a couple of hours rest when flooding occurs over a long period – would you be willing to join us? Full training is given and you can tell us how much time you’re prepared to give and what you are prepared to do
Rest Centre: Old School Room Upgrade to resources: The Parish has always provided resources but now B&NES, recognising the excellence of the OSR and our organisation, have issued us with a large set of comprehensive support materials to use in the centre
Would you be able to be one of the volunteers to help in the Rest centre supplying kindness with refreshments?
Come and see me on Saturday 2 September or contact me (details below).

The adopt a drain project is really helpful as residents kindly clear them of leaves or notify us early so we can clear it ourselves or refer it to B&NES through ‘Fix my Street’. It’s amazing what havoc a group of blocked drains can cause!
