Visiting Chew Magna .....

If you are visiting or planning to visit Chew Magna then we hope to provide you with some helpful information and tips.

* An online tour of Chew Magna

The village is about 10 miles from Bristol, 14 miles from Bath and 13 miles from the city of Wells. It is just on the northern edge of the Mendip Hills (a designated Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty)and is in the general area known as the Chew Valley. The village is a conservation area which has meant that Chew Magna has retained its character, friendliness and quiet charm.

There are two Primary schools and a Secondary school, several shops, three churches, three pubs serving the area. The community has about 1200 residents and there are several other near by villages and hamlets.

Chew Magna has an interesting history that provides a backdrop to today's vibrant society... a little more is described in our history page.

The logo at the top of the page is from the new road boundary stones installed April 2003, that welcome every one to the village.

Thank you for visiting Chew Magna ..
